WASHING

Make it easy!

Every Blutsgeschwister garment has a care label sewn into the inside. This label contains all the information you need to care for the item properly. Here are our three most common washing symbols:

GENTLE CYCLE AT 30 °C

  • Wash on the easy-care programme.
  • Only half-fill the washing machine.
  • Spin at up to 800–1,000 rpm.
  • The programme washes with slightly reduced mechanical action.

SPECIAL GENTLE CYCLE AT 30 °C

  • Wash on a delicate cycle
  • ¼ to ½ washing machine load
  • Spin speed up to 800 rpm
  • Programme washes with reduced mechanical action

HAND WASHING
Actual hand washing:

  • Temperature up to 30 °C
  • Dissolve the detergent thoroughly in plenty of water
  • Place the textiles in the lye solution. Move them gently.
  • Do not rub, pull or wring them out!

Washing machine programme ‘Hand wash’

  • Temperature up to 30 °C
  • Fill ¼ of the washing machine
  • No spin cycle

Washing puts strain on clothing. It's therefore better to air items out or hang them up in a warm, humid bathroom after wearing them just once, rather than washing them. Steaming can also help restore items to their original shape.

Separate your laundry by colour: light, dark and coloured items. It is best to divide the coloured laundry into light and dark items. Always follow the 'wash with similar colours' instructions and observe the care symbols.

Pro tip: lint can easily be removed with a lint brush or roller.

You should always treat stains before washing, ideally using a suitable stain remover directly on the stain.

Pro tip: If you are unsure what type of stain you are dealing with, gall soap is the best choice. It removes grease, protein and dye-based stains.

Close zips and undo buttons to prevent snagging, then turn everything inside out. Delicate items can be stored safely in a laundry bag.

Pro tip: For synthetic fabrics such as polyester, polyamide/nylon and polyacrylic, we recommend using a Guppy Friend Bag to protect the environment and prevent microplastics from entering the wastewater.

We recommend using the ‘easy care’ programme for most Blutsgeschwister items. Only fill the washing machine to three-quarters capacity to minimise friction between the fabrics and help them retain their beauty for longer.

Detergent:
Follow the dosing instructions on the packaging. To help protect the environment, avoid using fabric softener and wash at the lowest possible temperatures.

To keep your laundry fresh and in shape, hang it up immediately after washing. Please do not use a tumble dryer.
Heavier knitwear, or knitwear with a chunky knit, is best dried flat. Gently pull sweatshirts, jerseys and similar items into shape.

Air – sometimes it's better to let your clothes air out than to wash them. Simply hang up your favourite item of clothing after wearing it – wool, in particular, benefits from being hung outside in the fresh air or steamed in the bathroom instead of being washed immediately.

Ironing – Gets your favourite items back into shape and smooths out rough fibres.
For delicate fabrics, either place a damp cloth over them or use a steamer. Always follow the temperature instructions on the care label!
Important: always iron items inside out. This prevents shiny patches, which is particularly important for viscose, lyocell and modal!

Pilling – small knots caused by friction? Completely normal and no problem! They can be easily removed with a lint shaver or scissors.

Extra tip for when you're in a hurry: you can simply take garments made of lightweight materials such as viscose into the bathroom with you while you shower.
